ARO forum: joining the private groupsThere are two private groups within the ARO forum, the 'animal-concerned vegans' group and the ARO supporters group. As mentioned on the ARO forum information page, the term 'animal-concerned vegan' is being used to mean "people whose concern for animals is a major part of why they don't eat animal products" (note that ARO is using the word 'vegan' to simply mean "a person who doesn't eat animal products", which is the same definition that is being used by many dictionaries and animal rights groups; click here to read more about this). To join either of these groups, just send an emaail to ARO and describe yourself a bit. The ARO emaail address is c7#ARoutreach.aaa (replace # with @ and replace aaa with org). (At this time, there may be a delay of a few weeks for replies to be given to emaails) The 'animal-concerned vegans' private group may be very useful to many vegans in the world. If you're a vegan, then this group could be a good place to chat about difficulties you've had with reactions from other people who find out that you're vegan, or for suggesting ideas that could be helpful to other vegans, or tallking about animal rights activist strategies or just chit-chatting with some like-minded people. If you only want to use one of the private groups within the ARO forum, then that's ok. Or you can choose to use multiple groups at certain times and just one group at other times. The ARO supporters group is for people who think that ARO is definitely doing useful work for the animal rights movement (but they may not agree with everything that ARO does) and who agree with the idea that we should be focusing the majority of our efforts on animal rights work (which essentially involves trying to get people to stop causing animal suffering and death) instead of animal welfare work (which essentially involves trying to reduce the suffering that animals are forced to endure while they are treated like resources). |
